March 29th, 2012by Bob Johnson
Manuel Antonio National Park was established in 1972, when the people of Costa Rica decided to protect and preserve an incredibly bio-diverse and stunningly beautiful and part of the world. In 2011, Manuel Antonio was listed by Forges magazine to be among the world’s 12 most beautiful national parks. (1)
In the park you will find a combination rain forests filled with sloths, monkeys, iguanas, and a variety of beautiful tropical birds, such as the scarlet macaw. There are professional naturalist that can guide you through the park and when necessary, use powerful telescopes to get a detailed view of these Costa Rican wonders. There are four beaches throughout Manual Antonio, with much of the coast lined with lush forest. There is also snorkeling in the warm, clear water of the tidal pools, which is perfect after finishing a hike through the park or along many of the trails that surround the park.
Manuel Antonio is only an hour from Jaco, just south of the town of Quepos. As you drive on the winding roads from Quepos to Manuel Antonio, you will find a wide selection of restaurants and hotels in this unique tourist area.

Playa Herradura, Costa Rica
March 27th, 2012By Bob Johnson, REMAX Oceanside
Playa Herradura was a quiet beach undiscovered by most, only 10-15 years ago, mostly frequented by Ticos and campers. The quiet black sand beach with its aqua green waters and palm tree-lined shoreline, Playa Herradura is a quiet, restful spot to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of Jaco, which is only 6 km away.
To find Playa Herredura turn off the Costanera, north of Jaco, and drive about 3 km down the road west to the beach. Along the way you will pass the luxurious Los Suenos, where you will find an impressive marina, Marriott Hotel, golf course and condominium complexes. Los Suenos has fast become one of the largest tourism developments in Costa Rica.
From Playa Herradura you can also head north to the beautiful Punta Leona, or south to tourist town of Jaco Beach or the acclaimed surf spot of Playa Hermosa.

Costa Rica Real Estate Market Update
March 22nd, 2012Costa Rica boasts a pleasant climate, many protected environmental reserves, and a safe and stable political and economic state.
The cost of living is low and healthcare and dentistry are sometimes 50-70% lower than it is in the US and excellent in quality. Phone lines, cell phone services, Cable TV, High-Speed Internet and clean, drinkable water are available throughout the country, setting the premise for a comfortable lifestyle. With the ocean at your back door and all the technological amenities at your fingertips, Costa Rica is definitely the optimal combination between vacation ease and everyday life.
If you are considering the Beach then Jacó Beach and the Central Pacific are your best bet with friendly locals, good infrastructure, entertainment, fully titled beachfront property, residential developments, five-star hotels, luxury dining, golf courses, tennis courts, conference centers and marinas all within a hours drive to San Jose, the capital city.
Costa Rica has not been affected by the global financial crisis as profound as in other countries because if it’s historically conservative lending practices. However, there are many foreigners who own property here that have found themselves in financial trouble and need to sell at deeply discounted prices in order to get back on their feet again soon.
